3D Configurator for Poultry Houses in Entre Ríos, Argentina
By Facundo Campo, 3D quoting tool developer
In short: A 3D configurator lets a manufacturer in Entre Ríos, Argentina, quote poultry houses, canopies and homes with its own rules, show the farmer the building in 3D with its dimensions and walls, and answer without the owner working out every number by hand.
A 3D configurator for a manufacturer in Entre Ríos is a web app where the farmer or the sales rep builds the poultry house, canopy or home, sees it in 3D while choosing, and gets a quote calculated with the manufacturer's rules. In a province where many steel shops make a living selling broiler houses to local growers, that means something very specific: quoting a very long building with lots of variations, getting it right, and not having the owner redo the spreadsheet every time.
The poultry house: a product that looks simple
From the outside, a broiler house is a long, narrow rectangle with a gable roof. But anyone who builds them knows every grower asks for something different: another width, another length, another eave height, curtains or side walls, a door at each end, a service room, a sheeting color, a different orientation on the property. And a mistake in any of those gets paid for on site.
Around Concepción del Uruguay, Colón, Basavilbaso, Crespo or Villaguay, many shops work with growers who raise birds under contract for an integrator, and sometimes the integrator has its own requirements. The grower shows up with those requirements written down and wants to know how much it costs and when it'll be done. What matters most in that sale:
- An exact quote. On a long building, a difference in frame spacing or purlin count gets multiplied along the whole length.
- A grower who understands what they're buying. Half-height walls, curtains, overhangs, doors: seeing the building in 3D heads off arguments later.
- A fast answer. If the grower is about to sign with the integrator, whoever quotes first with something concrete has the edge.
What it looks like in a 3D configurator
Take an example: a grower in Basavilbaso asks for a 14 × 90 m gable building, with half-height side walls for curtains and a door at each end.
The rep opens the configurator on a tablet, enters width, length and eave height, picks the frame type, sets the spacing, chooses the walls and places the doors. The building shows up in 3D with every frame and purlin; with layers you see the structure inside, and with walk-through mode you walk the length of the house at eye level. The grower sees it on the spot, and if he asks "what if it's 16 wide?", the model and the quote recalculate.
You can try that today in the metal building configurator, where length goes up to 90 m. In a custom build, the ranges, models and options are your company's: if you build longer houses or use a different structure, they're loaded as rules. Interior equipment —feeders, drinkers, ventilation, heating— isn't in the public configurators, but it can be developed as quote options if your company sells or coordinates it. I go deeper on the industry in poultry and livestock building 3D configurator.
Canopies and homes: the other half of the business
The same shops that build poultry houses usually sell machine canopies, grain storage and, more and more, homes. In Paraná, Gualeguaychú, Concordia or Victoria there's demand for prefab and dry-construction homes, plus covered barbecue areas and carports for weekend houses on the river.
Having it all in one tool makes sense: the engine is the same, and each product has its own rules and price table. The grower who bought the poultry house comes back for a canopy; the family that asked about a home asks about a carport. For homes, the prefab home configurator has a floor plan editor, flat, single-slope or gable roofs, finishes, a porch, a pool and a fence.
What the manufacturer gains beyond the 3D
The 3D is what people see, but for a shop selling poultry houses what changes most is behind it:
- Rules that don't depend on the owner. Frame spacing, purlins per bay, sheeting, doors: it all comes from rules loaded once. I explain it in costly quoting mistakes.
- Prices the manufacturer updates on its own. When steel goes up, you change it in the table and new quotes come out right.
- A PDF quote with the render. The grower can take it to whoever has to approve it, with views of their own building. See automatic PDF quotes.
- Production gets what was sold. The shop cuts and assembles from the configuration's dimensions, without reinterpreting a sketch.
Why being local isn't enough
Many shops in Entre Ríos sell on proximity and trust: the grower knows the owner, drops by the plant, shares a mate. That doesn't change, but a configurator lets that same trust reach further: to the grower in Santa Fe or Corrientes who'll never visit, to the grower's son who decides from his phone, to the new rep who can't quote like the owner yet. I wrote about that last one in sales team autonomy.
Working with me
I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer based in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, and I build 3D quoting tools and configurators for manufacturers. I built the quoting system for EQUIBOX, a horse stable manufacturer in Berazategui, with a public 3D quoting tool, a sales dashboard and an offline mode for agricultural shows. I work remotely, on the same clock as you: a video call to start, you send me your catalog, photos and sample quotes, and I send you links to try each step.

Frequently asked questions
Does the configurator handle houses longer than 90 meters?
The public configurator goes up to 90 m in length. In a custom build, the ranges are whatever your company uses, because the parts are generated from rules and the length doesn't break anything.
Can I add curtains, feeders or ventilation?
They're not in the public configurators. They can be developed as options, with their price and their place in the 3D or in the quote, depending on what your company sells.
Does the grower see the price on the website?
That's up to you. Some manufacturers show a reference price, and others show only the 3D and leave the price to the rep, as EQUIBOX does.
Can the rep use it out on the farm?
Yes. It works on phones and tablets, and it can be made installable so it works with no signal and syncs when the connection comes back.
