Modular Office and Site Cabin 3D Configurator for Sale or Rental
By Facundo Campo, 3D quoting tool developer
In short: A modular office and site cabin 3D configurator is a web tool where a contractor or sales rep combines office, restroom, break room, locker room and storage units, picks the equipment, sees the layout in 3D, and the manufacturer quotes the sale or rental with their own rules.
A modular office and site cabin 3D configurator is a web tool where the buyer —a contractor, a road builder, an energy company, a city— combines office, restroom, break room, locker room and storage units, picks the equipment for each one, sees the whole setup in 3D and gets a sale or rental quote calculated with the manufacturer's rules. If you build units for jobsites, it's how you answer fast for a customer who's almost always in a hurry.
A buyer with the job breathing down their neck
Whoever orders site cabins is rarely planning months ahead. The contract was awarded, work starts in a few weeks, and they need to sort out where the site manager sits, where the crew changes, where people eat and where tools get locked up. Often the request comes from purchasing, or from the site manager on their phone, standing on the site.
So in this business, whoever answers first with something concrete wins. If you take three days to send a quote, the contractor has already rented from someone else. I explain why in quote response time.
And the order is almost never one unit. It's an office for the site manager, a restroom, a break room for twelve people, a locker room and a storage unit. Each combination changes how many units there are, how they're placed, how they connect and the price.
What the buyer puts together
A jobsite unit configurator can follow this order:
- Units. Office, restroom, break room, locker room, storage, meeting room, guard booth. Each manufacturer has its standard sizes.
- Layout. In a row, in an L, facing each other around a yard, or stacked two high with stairs, if you offer it.
- Equipment. Desks, lockers, tables, restroom fixtures, air conditioning, electrical.
- Openings. Doors and windows, security bars, shutters.
- Finishes. Exterior color, cladding, a sign with the company name.
- Buy or rent. And if it's a rental, for how long, with delivery, setup and pickup.
Every choice shows up right away. A setup with three units in an L —office, break room and locker room— and a storage unit on the side stops being a list in an email and becomes a picture the site manager understands and signs off on.
Sale, rental and bids
This business has a quirk a configurator handles well: the same setup gets sold or rented, and it's often quoted for a bid.
- Sale. The price comes from the units, equipment, finishes and delivery.
- Rental. The price also depends on the rental term plus setup and pickup. Your rules define how it's calculated.
- Bids and purchasing. Purchasing needs a clear, comparable quote. A PDF with views of the quoted setup and a breakdown by unit helps. I cover that in automatic PDF quotes.
All of this gets built custom around how each manufacturer works. The pricing logic is yours and you manage it: if a rental rate or a unit's cost changes, you change it in your price table.
What you can try today
Modular offices and site cabins aren't one of the three public configurators. The closest thing to try is the prefab home configurator, which is built room by room with a floor plan editor: you drag rooms, resize them, add more, edit doors and windows and move real bathroom, kitchen and closet furniture, with dimensions and undo. It also has a second floor with stairs, Walk mode to move through the inside, and a share link. It doesn't show prices.
A jobsite unit configurator is built custom on the same engine, which generates structures from rules, with each manufacturer's units and rules. I wrote about a similar product in the container and modular unit 3D quoting tool.
What a modular unit manufacturer gets out of it
- Fast answers. Your rep builds the setup with the customer on a call and sends the link or PDF right then.
- Fewer mistakes in the layout. The rules block units that can't connect or equipment that doesn't fit.
- Repeat customers, even faster. A contractor who orders site cabins regularly can start from a saved configuration.
- Sales in other regions. Jobsites are far from your yard; delivery by distance can be calculated in the quote, as in EQUIBOX. If you sell to oil, gas or mining regions, there are examples in Patagonia and warehouses and modular units in Peru.
How we'd work together
I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I build 3D quoting tools for manufacturers end to end. I work remotely, in English and Spanish, over video calls, WhatsApp and email, and I deliver links you test in the browser, on your phone too. For a modular unit configurator I need your catalog with sizes and photos, the rules for combining units, how you price sales and rentals, and two or three real quotes.
If you build or rent modular offices and site cabins and want to see them in 3D, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com. You can also read about custom 3D quoting software.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work for rentals, not just sales?
Yes, it can be built for both. For rentals, the rules add the term, setup and pickup; for sales, delivery and finishes. Each manufacturer sets its own math.
Can units be stacked two high?
If you offer it, it can be built with your rules for stairs, support and connections. The prefab home on this site already shows a second floor with stairs as a reference.
Can a customer save a setup to reuse on another job?
Every configuration has a link that opens it exactly the same, so it can be reused as a starting point. Saving configurations per customer inside a dashboard is built custom.
Does the price show online?
That's up to you: a reference price or prices for sales reps only, as with EQUIBOX. The demo configurators on this site don't show prices.
