Prefab Home 3D Configurator for Germany, Austria and Switzerland
By Facundo Campo, 3D quoting tool developer
In short: In Germany, Austria and Switzerland buyers are used to configuring things online; a German-language 3D configurator lets a Fertighaus, garden house or carport manufacturer give them that level of detail and get precise inquiries.
A 3D configurator for the German-speaking market is a web tool, in German, where buyers design their prefab home (Fertighaus), garden house (Gartenhaus) or carport, see it in 3D with dimensions and finishes, and send the inquiry with everything defined. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland nobody needs configuring explained: buyers have already done it with their car, their kitchen and their furniture. What they expect is precision.
A buyer who configures everything already
A buyer in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Tyrol or the canton of Zurich shows up with expectations set by other industries: choose option by option, see the result, and get exactly what you saw. If a home manufacturer's website offers a PDF catalog and a contact form, they'll compare it with what the car dealer offered.
That buyer has a few clear traits:
- They want detail. Exact sizes, dimensions on the floor plan, what the stairs look like, which way the door swings.
- They compare a lot before writing. They reach out with two or three options already thought through.
- They don't like surprises. What they picked on screen has to match what the quote says.
A well-built 3D configurator covers all three: it shows every option, saves the configuration and turns it into an inquiry that leaves no doubts.
Fertighaus: the floor plan sells the home
With a Fertighaus, the floor plan (Grundriss) is the heart of the decision. Buyers want to move the study, enlarge the bathroom, put the stairs somewhere else.
The prefab home configurator has a floor plan editor made for that: drag rooms, make them bigger or smaller, add rooms, edit doors, windows and the entrance, move furniture, add an upper floor with stairs and choose which way they go up, with dimensions, undo and redo. You can pick a flat, single-slope or gable roof (Flachdach, Pultdach, Satteldach), render with an accent color, timber, stone or brick cladding, floors, porch, pool, fence and real furniture.
With walk-through mode, buyers move inside at eye level; with night view, they see the home lit up. And with share, they send their partner a link that opens exactly that home.
Prefab home sales in the region include a stage where the buyer chooses finishes with the manufacturer (Bemusterung). A configurator that already carries those choices shortens that stage: the buyer arrives with half of it decided and seen. I cover this in quote in the meeting.
Garden houses and carports: configure and order
The Gartenhaus and the carport are where online comparison is strongest. Size, flat or single-slope roof, single or double carport (Einzelcarport, Doppelcarport), an attached storage room, the color of the timber or metal. Quick decisions buyers want to make on their own.
They aren't public configurators on this site. The engine generates structures from rules, and these products are built to order on top of it. To see how a steel carport would behave, the closest is the metal building configurator: open-sided canopy, roof pitch, frame spacing, structure and sheeting colors, side canopy. For a garden house with an interior, the prefab home one.
In your configurator, the rules would come from your company: your catalog sizes, which storage room fits with which carport, the wall thickness of each model. Explained in parametric rendering.
Language, currency and three countries
The site and configurators already run in Spanish and English. For a manufacturer in the region, the custom tool is built in German, with euros or Swiss francs and meters. If you sell in Switzerland, French and Italian can be added. Someone on your team checks the technical wording: buyers spot a wrong word right away.
Building permits (Baugenehmigung) depend on the state, canton and municipality; that's for a local professional, not the configurator.
What you get as a manufacturer
- Precise inquiries. They arrive with floor plan, roof, finishes and dimensions, not "a 140 square meter home, two floors."
- Fewer designer hours on variations that never sell. Buyers try them on their own.
- What was sold reaches production as is. The configuration the customer saw goes to the shop floor. See from quote to production.
- Pricing under your control. The public configurators on this site don't show prices; in a custom build you decide whether prices appear online or only for sales reps, with a table your team manages. See updating prices.
Working with a developer in Argentina
I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer based in Quilmes, Buenos Aires. I design and build 3D quoting tools and configurators end to end. The system I can show in production is EQUIBOX, a horse stable manufacturer in Berazategui, Argentina: public 3D quoting tool, sales dashboard with prices only for reps, and PDF quotes that include the render.
Germany, Austria and Switzerland are four or five hours ahead of Argentina depending on the season. My morning is your afternoon, and that's when we hold video calls. I work in English and Spanish. To get started, you send me your catalog, floor plans, photos and a few sample quotes; I send you links to try in the browser and you approve the work step by step.
If you'd like to see your Fertighaus, garden house or carport in 3D, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com, or take a look at custom 3D quoting software.
Frequently asked questions
Can the configurator be in German?
Yes, as part of the custom build, with euros or Swiss francs and meters. The site already runs in Spanish and English; for Switzerland, French and Italian can be added.
Does the floor plan editor work for a Fertighaus?
It's the closest thing to try today: you can move and resize rooms, add an upper floor with stairs and edit openings, with dimensions shown. In your configurator, the limits would be those of your building system.
Is there a carport or garden house configurator to try?
Not as a public configurator. They're built to order on the same engine. To get an idea, try the metal building configurator for open structures and the prefab home one for buildings with rooms.
How do I approve the work remotely?
Through links that open in the browser, on a tablet or phone too. You review them with your team and we talk them over on a video call during the hours we overlap.
