Prefab Home 3D Configurator for Italy: Timber Homes and Capannoni

The home at night with the interior lights on: what the buyer sees before signing.

In short: An Italian-language 3D configurator helps a maker of timber prefab homes or steel capannoni let buyers design their project in 3D, so inquiries arrive with dimensions and options the buyer's technician can actually use.

A 3D configurator for an Italian manufacturer is a web tool, in Italian, where buyers design their timber prefab home (casa prefabbricata in legno) or their steel building (capannone), see it in 3D as they choose, and send the inquiry with the project defined. In Italy there's one more person in the sale: the technician who works with the buyer, often a geometra (a licensed building surveyor). A good configurator speaks to the buyer and gives the technician something concrete to work with.

Two products under one roof

In northern Italy it's common for the same company, or neighboring ones, to work in two worlds.

Case in legno: timber prefab homes for families building on their own land, with deep roots in Trentino-Alto Adige and sold all over the country, from Veneto to Tuscany and Puglia. The buyer takes time, compares layouts and finishes, and wants to see how the home sits on their plot.

Capannoni: steel buildings for farms (aziende agricole) across the Po Valley in Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, for storage, workshops and tradespeople. Here the buyer thinks in usable floor area, clear height, doors and roof. Then there's the tettoia, the open-sided canopy for machinery or hay.

Different buyers, different questions, same sales logic: a made-to-order product that today needs someone to draw and price every variation.

The buyer, the geometra and the manufacturer

In Italy, the technician who'll file the project usually sits between buyer and manufacturer. In practice that means an inquiry bounces among three parties, and each round is a drawing, an email or a meeting.

A 3D configurator puts that conversation in order:

  • The buyer designs the home or capannone and shares a link that opens that exact configuration.
  • The technician opens the same link, sees dimensions, roof and openings, and knows what to check.
  • You get an inquiry with everything defined, instead of "I'd like a home of around 100 square meters."

What can be built on each plot and the permits it needs depend on the municipality and local rules; that's for the technician and local professionals. The configurator shows the product you sell; it doesn't replace that work.

What you can already try for homes

The prefab home configurator shows the home on a lot with sidewalk and street. It has flat, single-slope or gable roofs (a una falda or a due falde), exterior and interior finishes in timber, stone or brick, wood, porcelain or tile floors, porch, pool, fence, and real kitchen, bathroom, laundry and closet furniture.

The floor plan editor lets you drag rooms, resize them, add bedrooms, edit doors, windows and the entrance, move furniture and add an upper floor with stairs, with dimensions and undo. With walk-through mode, the buyer moves inside at eye level. For a timber home, where the exposed interior is a big part of the appeal, that matters.

And for capannoni and tettoie

The metal building configurator is the closest thing to a capannone. It has a rural setting, spans from 6 to 40 meters and lengths from 6 to 90, height, roof pitch and frame spacing; truss, solid-web or curved-roof frames; gable or single-slope roof; open-sided, half-height or fully enclosed walls, with block or exposed brick and pilasters; a sliding door with width and height that actually opens; a side canopy with width and drop; structure and sheeting colors.

An example: a farm near Cremona asks for a 20 × 40 m capannone, closed on three sides, with a large front door and a side tettoia for machinery. In the configurator that takes a couple of minutes to build, and you can see it from every angle, at night too. In your company's tool, the rules would be yours: your sections, your panels, your door sizes. I explain how in parametric rendering.

Selling in Italian, with the trade's own words

The site and configurators already run in Spanish and English. For an Italian manufacturer, the custom tool is built in Italian, in euros and meters, using the words your customers use: lamiera and pannelli for cladding, portone for the big door, gronda for the eave. Someone on your team checks the wording; machine translation shows.

If you also sell into Switzerland or Austria, we can add the languages you need.

What your company gets

  • Quotes during the meeting, not after your in-house technician draws it up. See quote in the meeting.
  • Fewer mistakes: a rule says which door fits which frame spacing, and nobody forgets it. See costly quoting mistakes.
  • Prices you control: the price table is updated from a dashboard, no programmer needed.
  • Something to show at trade fairs: at your booth, a visitor designs their capannone on a tablet and leaves with the link.

The public configurators on this site don't show prices; in a custom build you decide whether prices show on the website or only for your sales reps, as with EQUIBOX, the horse stable manufacturer in Berazategui, Argentina, for which I built the full system.

How we work from Argentina

I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer based in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, and I design and build 3D quoting tools end to end. Italy is four or five hours ahead of Argentina depending on the season: Argentina's morning lines up with the Italian afternoon, and that's when we hold video calls. I work in English and Spanish.

You send me your catalog, project photos, plans or sections of your models and a few sample quotes. I send you links to try in the browser, and you approve the work step by step. More detail in how I work with manufacturers.

If you'd like to see your home or capannone in 3D, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com, or have a look at custom 3D quoting software.

Frequently asked questions

Can the configurator be in Italian?

Yes, as part of the custom build. The site already runs in Spanish and English; for an Italian manufacturer it's built in Italian, with euros, meters and your trade's vocabulary.

Can it handle both timber homes and capannoni?

Yes. Both come from the same engine, which generates structures from rules. One company can have a home configurator and a capannone configurator, each with its own rules and price table.

Can the buyer's technician use the configuration?

They can open the same link and see dimensions, roof and openings. If they need a spec sheet or a PDF with more technical data, we define that during the build based on what your company needs.

Can I try it first?

Yes. The prefab home and metal building configurators are free, public and work on phones.
