Swimming Pool 3D Configurator: Let Buyers See the Pool in Their Yard

From the porch, in walk-through mode: the living room with wood floors and the kitchen at the back.

In short: A swimming pool 3D configurator lets buyers choose the model, size, finish, coping and deck, and see the pool in 3D inside a yard built to their own measurements, so the builder gets inquiries with both the pool and the space already defined.

A swimming pool 3D configurator is a web tool where buyers choose the model or shape of their pool, its size, finish, coping and deck, and see it in 3D inside a yard built to their own measurements. For a fiberglass pool manufacturer or a company that builds concrete pools, it answers the question that stalls most sales: "What's it going to look like in my backyard?"

The question that stalls the sale

Someone buying a pool isn't buying an object. They're buying a change to their home that they'll look at every day. And they almost always think their yard is too small. So the same questions keep coming: "Will a 7 × 3.5 m (about 23 × 11.5 ft) pool fit in a 10 × 8 m yard? How much lawn will I have left? What if I push it against the fence? How does it look with a wood deck?"

Right now those answers come as photos of other jobs, a sketch, or "we'll come out and take a look." The visit helps, but it's expensive while the buyer is still comparing options, and a photo of someone else's job isn't their yard.

Fiberglass and concrete: two ways to quote

The two kinds of pool sell differently, and the configurator adapts to each.

Fiberglass pools. You have a fixed catalog of molds: rectangular, with a tanning ledge, with Roman steps, in different sizes. The buyer picks a model; they don't design one. The configurator places it in their yard, adds the extras (coping, deck, lighting, safety fence) and asks what drives the install: how the shell gets in, since it arrives in one piece on a truck. If you need a crane or the access is narrow, that changes the quote, and it's better to know from the first inquiry.

Concrete pools. Here the buyer does set the shape and size, within your rules: width and length, depths, steps, tanning ledge, interior finish (glass mosaic, tile, paint). The configurator would generate the pool from those rules, the same way the engine builds a metal building from its frames, and the price would come from your price table.

What the buyer decides

  1. Model or shape, and size.
  2. Where it goes: against the fence, at the back, in the middle.
  3. Coping and deck: cool-touch coping, wood deck, stone pavers, how much around it.
  4. Interior finish and the water color it gives.
  5. Extras: lighting, a water feature, a safety fence.

With that, you have almost everything you need to quote, and the buyer has something they don't have today: a picture of their pool in their own space.

What exists today and what gets built

To be clear: there's no public pool configurator yet. The closest thing to try is the prefab home configurator, which shows a house on a neighborhood lot with a sidewalk and street and lets you add a pool, a porch and a fence (solid wall, wire or iron), with a Walk mode to move around the lot at eye level, night view, layers and a share link. It doesn't show prices.

A pool configurator gets built as custom work on that same engine: a yard with the measurements the buyer enters, a wall of the house as reference, the property lines, and the pool with your models or your shape rules. The buyer doesn't see the pool on a photo of their yard or in augmented reality; they see a 3D yard with their measurements, which is enough to settle size, placement and deck. If you want to understand how the engine creates variations without modeling each one, it's in parametric rendering.

Season: lots of inquiries at once

Pools sell when it gets hot. When spring arrives, inquiries pile up and you have to answer them while installing the season's pools. It's the worst time to be replying "what sizes do you have?" one message at a time.

A public configurator works through those months for you: the buyer picks, sees the pool in their yard and sends the inquiry over WhatsApp with the configuration and the picture. Your rep gets a specific request, knows whether the yard has truck access and can prioritize. More in qualified leads with a 3D quoting tool and WhatsApp and 3D quoting.

And if you sell at home shows or from a showroom, the same configurator runs on a tablet, with a PDF quote that includes the picture of what was quoted, like the one I built for EQUIBOX. More in automatic PDF quotes.

How to get started

I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer based in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I build 3D quoting tools and configurators for manufacturers. For a pool builder, I need what you already use to sell: your model catalog with sizes (or your shape rules, if you do concrete), the extras, how you work out the price, photos of finished pools and a couple of real quotes. We talk on a video call and each step reaches you as a link to try on your phone.

If you build pools and want buyers to see theirs before they call you, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com. I answer in English and Spanish. You can also read about custom 3D quoting software.

Frequently asked questions

Can buyers see the pool on a photo of their yard?

That's not something the system does today. What gets built is a 3D yard with the measurements the buyer enters, their house as a reference and the property lines; that's enough to see size, placement and deck.

Does it work for a fiberglass manufacturer with fixed models?

Yes, and it's the simplest case: each mold is a model with its sizes. The configurator places it in the yard, adds the extras and asks about truck access.

And for custom concrete pools?

That too. Shape and size are generated from your rules (minimum and maximum sizes, steps, tanning ledge), and the price comes from the same configuration.

Will the buyer see the price?

That's your call. You can show a ballpark price for the model and its extras, or keep pricing for your sales reps. The public configurators on this site don't show prices.
