3D Configurator for Carports and Canopies in Greater Buenos Aires
By Facundo Campo, 3D quoting tool developer
In short: In Greater Buenos Aires, a 3D configurator lets a manufacturer of carports, canopies, quinchos or home additions show each homeowner what they're asking for in 3D, filter WhatsApp inquiries and quote on the spot with its own rules and prices.
A 3D configurator for a manufacturer in Greater Buenos Aires (the suburbs around the city, known locally as the conurbano, plus the wider metro area or AMBA) is a web app where the customer builds their carport, canopy, quincho (an Argentine covered barbecue area) or home addition, sees it in 3D on their phone and sends an inquiry with everything defined. In a market of small, quick purchases made over WhatsApp, that means answering more inquiries with less back-and-forth, and no longer losing the sale to whoever replied first.
A market of many small inquiries
If you build carports or steel canopies in Quilmes, Lomas de Zamora, Morón, San Justo, Moreno, Tigre or La Plata, you know the pattern: lots of inquiries, almost all on WhatsApp or Instagram, almost all asking the same thing —"how much for a canopy for my car?"— and almost none with dimensions.
What comes next is familiar too. The rep asks for measurements, the customer sends a photo of the yard, the rep asks whether they want a single-slope or gable roof, the customer doesn't know what that means, the rep sends a photo of an old job, and the customer disappears. If they do answer, they ask for a price and compare it with three other shops that said the same thing.
The problem isn't that the product is hard. It's that every inquiry costs half an hour of messages and half of them don't buy. That's why, in this market, a 3D configurator is worth more for what it filters and speeds up than for what it shows.
What the homeowner sees and what the shop gets
Take an example: a family in Bernal wants a 5 × 6 m single-slope canopy over two cars at the front, with gray sheeting.
With a configurator, they come in from the link in the shop's Instagram bio or the button on its website, enter width and length, pick single-slope, change the sheeting color, check how it looks from the sidewalk and at night, and tap "request a quote." The shop gets a WhatsApp message with the dimensions, the options and a link that opens that exact configuration. The rep already knows what to quote, and if the shop shows a reference price, the customer already has a rough idea where they stand.
The site's metal building configurator shows how it looks: dimensions, gable or single-slope roof, open sides, structure and sheeting color, side canopy with width and drop. It's designed for farm buildings, so for a backyard carport or a covered patio it gets built to fit your products, sizes and finishes. I cover the industry in pergola and carport 3D quoting tool and carport 3D quoting tool.
Quinchos and additions: when the buyer needs to picture the space
With quinchos and home additions the conversation is different. The customer isn't buying a roof: they're buying the place where they'll spend Sundays, or the bedroom the kid who grew up needs.
That's what the prefab home configurator is for. The house sits on a suburban lot with a sidewalk and street, like the customer's. With the floor plan editor you add rooms, resize them, move them, edit doors and windows and add an upper floor with stairs. You choose a flat or metal roof, plaster and accent color, flooring, finishes, a porch, a pool and a fence (masonry wall, wire or railings). With walk-through mode, the customer walks through the addition at eye level before a single brick is laid.
For a builder of modules, light steel framing or dry-construction additions, that changes the sale: the customer stops asking "how would it look?" and starts deciding. I go into detail in steel frame and modular 3D quoting tool.
WhatsApp first
In Buenos Aires almost everything sells over WhatsApp, and a configurator isn't here to replace it. It's here to bring order to it:
- The customer arrives with the configuration built, instead of "price?"
- The rep answers right away with a quote that comes from that configuration.
- The link gets shared: with a partner, with the father-in-law who "knows construction," with the neighbor who has to sign off on the shared wall.
- Inquiries that were never going to buy filter themselves out, because someone who builds their canopy in 3D is already closer to deciding.
More on that in WhatsApp and 3D quoting and qualified leads with a 3D quoting tool. If you run Instagram or Facebook ads, sending them to the configurator instead of a form is another way to use it: I explain it in 3D configurator and social media ads.
Prices that change and reps who quote on their own
Many shops in the conurbano are small: the owner, a couple of welders, someone answering the phone. When sheeting goes up, the owner redoes prices in his head. With a quoting tool, prices live in a table the shop controls, and whoever handles WhatsApp can quote without asking the owner every time. Local rules, like permits or setbacks, are something the customer should check with a local professional.
Working with me
I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer based in Quilmes, so I know the conurbano firsthand. I focus on 3D quoting tools and configurators for manufacturers. I work remotely: we start with a video call, you send me your catalog, photos of past jobs and sample quotes, and I send you links to try each step on your phone.
If you build carports, canopies, quinchos or home additions in Greater Buenos Aires, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com. I answer in English and Spanish. Or see how custom 3D quoting software works.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 3D configurator worth it for small products like a carport?
Yes, precisely because there are so many inquiries and each one takes time. The configurator organizes the inquiry, filters out people who aren't ready, and lets you answer fast with something concrete.
Can the customer see the price right away?
That's up to the shop. You can show a reference price on the website or keep pricing for the rep only. The site's public configurators don't show prices: that's part of the custom build.
Can I put it on Instagram and on my website?
Yes. It's a link that opens in the phone's browser, so it can go in your bio, stories, ads and website, and the inquiry arrives on WhatsApp with the configuration.
Does the customer need to install anything?
No. It opens from a link on a phone or computer, with nothing to install.
