Prefab Home 3D Configurator: How to Use It, Step by Step
By Facundo Campo, 3D quoting tool developer
In short: The Estructuras 3D prefab home configurator builds the house by adding catalog rooms, with an optional second floor, cladding, porch, pool and fence, and regenerates it instantly in the browser.
This configurator builds a prefab home in 3D by adding catalog rooms: bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living room and laundry room, with an optional second floor. You choose the finishes, porch, pool and fence from the panel, and the house is regenerated instantly in your browser. You can try it here, free and with nothing to install.
I built it myself, Facundo Campo, on the same engine as the other Estructuras 3D configurators. In this guide I explain how the house is put together, what you can choose and why it's designed this way.
A house built from blocks
A prefab home company doesn't sell floor plans: it sells models and rooms. That's why each room here is a unit with its own size, and the house grows as you add them. One more bedroom is one more block in the 3D view and, in a quoting tool, one more line on the quote: there's no need to recalculate the whole project.
It's the same logic I cover in prefab home 3D quoting tool, and the one that carries over to light steel framing and modular units.
What you can configure
- Rooms: large and small bedrooms, one or two bathrooms, a laundry room, and a second floor with its bedrooms and the staircase.
- Construction and roof: wall height; a flat concrete roof with a parapet, or a single-slope or gable metal roof with its pitch, plus the eave.
- Finishes: plaster, accent color, and ceramic tile or wood flooring.
- Cladding: exposed brick, stone or wood, inside and out, on the whole house or only the front.
- Yard: a porch with its depth, a pool, a perimeter walkway and a perimeter fence (block wall, chain-link or railings) with its height and a side passage to the backyard.
- Surroundings: the lot with its lawn and front path, the sidewalk with its trees, the street and a parked car, so the scale reads at a glance. It can be turned off.
- Interior: partition walls, furniture and lighting in each room.
- Walk through: the camera drops to eye level. Tap the floor to walk, drag to look around, and jump to the spots people show the most.
How to use it
- Start with the Blocks group: how many bedrooms and bathrooms, and whether there's a second floor. The house grows as you add.
- Choose the roof, the finishes and the cladding.
- Set up the yard: porch, pool, walkway and fence.
- Use Layers to remove the roof slab and the upper floor and see the house inside, with its partition walls, furniture and lights.
- Use Day/Night to switch to night and see the interior lighting turned on.
- Use Share to send a link that opens exactly that house.
How it helps you sell
Someone buying a prefab home decides with their family, on a phone, often at night. A link that opens their house, with the bedrooms they asked for and the cladding they chose, does more than a catalog PDF, and the sales rep doesn't have to wait on a 3D artist for every change. I go into this in WhatsApp and 3D quoting.
The demo doesn't show prices. In a custom build, each block and each finish takes its price from your company's price table. If you sell homes, modular units or light steel framing and want to see it with your own models, message me on WhatsApp or by email.
Frequently asked questions
How is the house built in the configurator?
From blocks. Each room (large or small bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living and dining room, laundry room) is a catalog unit with its own size, and the house grows as you add them. With a second floor, the upstairs bedrooms and the staircase are added.
Why blocks instead of drawing the floor plan?
Because that's how a prefab home company sells: by models and rooms. It also turns the quote into a sum of lines: one more bedroom is one more line, not a recalculation.
Which finishes can I choose?
Plaster and an accent color, ceramic tile or wood flooring, and exposed brick, stone or wood cladding inside and out. Outside, you can add a porch, a pool, a walkway and a perimeter fence.
Can I see inside the house?
Yes. The Layers button removes the roof slab so you can see the floor plan with its partition walls, furniture and the lighting in each room.
