3D Quoting Tool for Builders in Northeast Argentina
By Facundo Campo, 3D quoting tool developer
In short: In Chaco, Corrientes and Misiones, a 3D quoting tool lets a manufacturer of farm buildings or wooden homes show each configuration in 3D, with porches, overhangs and airflow designed for heat and humidity, and quote it with its own rules without the owner working out every number.
A 3D quoting tool for a manufacturer in northeast Argentina (the NEA) is a web app where the customer or sales rep builds the farm building, wooden home or cabin, sees it in 3D right away, and gets a quote calculated with the manufacturer's rules. In Chaco, Corrientes and Misiones the strongest selling point is the climate: buyers want to see the shade of the porch, the overhang that keeps the rain off and a building that won't turn into an oven in January.
What gets built and bought in the NEA
The northeast has a mix of products you don't see in other regions.
- Farm buildings in Chaco. Storage for cotton, sunflower and grain around Sáenz Peña, Charata or Villa Ángela; machine sheds and canopies for cattle. The grower thinks about covered area, a door wide enough for the combine, and airflow.
- Rice, citrus and cattle in Corrientes. Warehouses near the rice mills, packing sheds around Bella Vista, canopies on cattle ranches.
- Yerba mate, tea and forestry in Misiones. Buildings for yerba drying and storage around Oberá, Apóstoles or Jardín América; structures for sawmills in Eldorado and Montecarlo.
- Wooden homes and cabins. With pine from Corrientes and Misiones, many companies build wooden homes for the whole country, plus tourist cabins near Iguazú, the Iberá wetlands or along the Uruguay River.
In almost every case the buyer lives far from the plant, and often far from everything. Being able to see the product on their phone, with the configuration they asked for, saves the trip and half the questions.
Heat and humidity: selling with 3D
In the NEA nobody buys a house without asking about the porch, and nobody buys a building without asking whether they'll be able to work inside in summer. Those are design questions, and 3D answers them better than a description.
In the prefab home configurator you can see how a house changes with a porch, a gable or single-slope roof, wood, brick or stone siding, and a pool. With the floor plan editor, the customer puts the bedrooms on the cooler side, enlarges the living room that opens onto the porch, or adds a room. And with walk-through mode they move through it at eye level, as if they were standing on the lot.
In the metal building configurator, the grower can try half-height or open walls so air moves through, raise the eave height, add a side canopy to work in the shade and change the sheeting color. What gets loaded in a custom build are your company's rules: say, the minimum heights you use in the area, which airflow options you offer, or which finish you recommend for humidity. The technical and code side is your team's call, and when in doubt it's worth checking with a local professional.
An example: a wooden home for Corrientes
A family in Goya writes to a wooden home builder in Misiones. They want two bedrooms, an open kitchen and a big porch, and they ask whether they can add a third bedroom later.
Without a quoting tool, the rep sends three photos of similar models, the catalog PDF and a "we'll see." With a 3D quoting tool, the rep builds the house in the floor plan editor, puts on wood siding and a gable roof, enlarges the porch and sends a link. The family opens it on a phone, walks through it, shows it to the grandparents and comes back with a concrete question: "what if the third bedroom goes here?" The rep adds it, the quote updates, and the conversation stays on what everyone is looking at. That's what I describe in sharing a configuration by link.
If your company builds wooden homes with its own system —tongue-and-groove boards, logs, panels— it gets developed on the same engine, which generates the structure from rules. I explain it for that industry in log cabin 3D configurator.
Selling far away without losing the quote along the way
A builder in Posadas or Eldorado selling wooden homes to the rest of the country has a concrete problem: the customer in Córdoba or Buenos Aires is never going to come see the model. They get photos of other jobs and have to imagine their own. With a quoting tool:
- The customer builds their house and the inquiry arrives with the configuration.
- The rep adjusts it and quotes without waiting for the owner.
- Delivery can be calculated by distance inside the quote, as with EQUIBOX.
- Production gets exactly what was sold.
I wrote about selling to people who'll never visit the plant in selling made-to-order products remotely. And if the house is paid in installments, that can live inside the quote too.
How we work remotely
I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer based in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, and I focus on 3D quoting tools and configurators for manufacturers. I work remotely with the whole country, in the same time zone. We start with a video call; you send me your catalog, photos of past jobs, sample quotes and the rules the owner handles today. I send you links to try each step on a computer or phone, and we adjust over WhatsApp or email.
If you build metal buildings or wooden homes in Chaco, Corrientes or Misiones and want to see how your product would look, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com. I answer in English and Spanish. Or see how custom 3D quoting software works.
Frequently asked questions
Can I show wooden homes in the quoting tool?
The prefab home configurator already lets you choose wood for exterior and interior finishes, a gable roof and a porch. If your building system is your own, it gets developed to fit so the 3D shows exactly how you build.
Does the customer see how the porch and shade look?
They see the house with its porch from any angle, can walk through it and view it at night. The porch gets added or enlarged on the same screen, and the quote comes from that same configuration.
Does it work if my customers are out in the country with weak signal?
The configurators work on phones and tablets. For reps who go out to farms, the quoting tool can be made installable so it works offline and syncs when the signal returns.
How much does it cost?
It's quoted per project, based on what your company needs: number of products, rules, pricing, PDF quotes, a sales rep dashboard. The factors are laid out in how much a 3D quoting tool costs.
