Prefab Home 3D Configurator for Manufacturers in Chile
By Facundo Campo, 3D quoting tool developer
In short: A prefab home 3D configurator lets a Chilean manufacturer show each model in 3D, separate what the basic kit includes from what the finished packages add, and sell to buyers across the country without them traveling to the plant.
A prefab home 3D configurator is a web tool where the buyer lays out their house —rooms, roof, cladding, finishes— and sees it in 3D, outside and inside, while the manufacturer calculates the quote with its own rules. In Chile, where many factories are in the south and sell nationwide, it solves two things at once: the customer understands what each delivery package includes, and they don't have to travel the length of the country to see a show home.
Basic kit, partial finish, turnkey
In Chile, prefab homes are sold in tiers. The kit básico (basic kit) is usually the wall panels, the roof structure and not much more; the buyer handles the radier (the concrete slab foundation), assembly and finishes. Then come fuller packages with insulation, cladding, windows or interior finishes, all the way up to a house delivered ready to live in. Every company names and splits the tiers its own way.
That ladder causes a lot of repeat questions and misunderstandings. The customer sees a photo of the finished house, asks for the kit price, and later finds out the kit doesn't include what was in the photo. Or the other way around: they compare one company's finished price against another's basic kit and decide the first one is expensive.
A 3D configurator can show that difference on screen: the same house as a basic kit, with bare panels, and with finishes, with cladding, flooring and furniture. Each tier with its price, if the manufacturer wants to show it. The buyer sees what they're paying for at each step, and the conversation stops being about misunderstandings.
Selling nationwide from the south
Many Chilean prefab manufacturers are in Biobío, La Araucanía or Los Lagos, close to the timber. Their buyers are everywhere: the Santiago area, Valparaíso, La Serena, the north. Many are buying for a parcela de agrado (a small rural lot) or a second home, and hardly any can visit the plant on a weekend to walk through a show home.
Today that sale runs on a PDF catalog, photos and a lot of phone calls. With a 3D configurator, the buyer in Santiago lays out the house on their phone, walks through it, shares it with their partner, and shows up to the conversation with the house already chosen. Distance stops being a sales problem and becomes what it really is: a delivery and assembly cost, which can also be calculated in the quote. I cover that in selling made-to-order products remotely and calculating delivery in the quote.
What you can build today
The prefab home configurator on this site shows the starting point. The house sits on a lot with a sidewalk and a street, and there's a floor plan editor: you drag rooms, resize them, add bedrooms, edit doors, windows and the entrance, move furniture and add a second floor with stairs, with dimensions and undo. On top of that you choose:
- A flat slab roof, single-slope or gable.
- Exterior and interior cladding in brick, stone or wood, plus an accent color.
- Ceramic, porcelain or wood flooring.
- Porch, pool and fence.
- Real bathroom, kitchen, laundry and closet furniture, and lighting.
A walk-through mode lets you move through the house at eye level. It's the closest thing to a show home you can send over WhatsApp. It doesn't show prices: your pricing and your delivery tiers are part of the custom build. More on the editor in floor plan editor for prefab homes.
The rules of your building system
A timber panel house doesn't stretch the way a drawing does. Panels come in set sizes, walls go where they can go, and roofs have maximum spans. If the configurator lets the buyer design anything, your rep has to undo it later. So the core of the job is turning what your company already knows into rules:
- Panel or module sizes and how they combine.
- Which models can take a second floor and which can't.
- What each delivery tier includes and what's added separately.
- Which finishes go with which cladding.
That way the buyer has freedom inside what you can actually build. I explain the approach in turning the owner's know-how into rules.
Rain, cold and insulation as selling points
In the south, buyers ask about insulation, windows and heating. In central Chile, about the afternoon sun and the porch. Showing in 3D the porch that keeps rain off the front door, or the wood cladding they asked for, makes the fuller package feel like a choice rather than a cost. Technical and code questions about insulation and construction go to a local professional; the configurator only offers what your company delivers.
How we work remotely
I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I design and build 3D quoting tools for manufacturers. I work remotely. Chile and Argentina are on almost the same clock, so we coordinate during office hours, in Spanish or English, over WhatsApp, email or video calls.
To get started, you send me your models with their floor plans, the list of what each tier includes, photos of finished and kit homes, and a few real quotes. Each update arrives as a link to test on a phone or a computer, and you review it with your sales reps. The configurator can run in Chilean pesos and with your vocabulary: kit básico, radier, closet, parcela. That's set up during the build.
If you run a prefab home company in Chile and want to sell nationwide without making buyers travel, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com. I answer in English and Spanish. You can also see how custom 3D quoting software works, or read about a prefab home 3D quoting tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can it show the difference between the basic kit and the finished house?
That can be built to order: the same house at each delivery tier, showing what each one includes. The buyer sees what they're paying for at each step.
Can the buyer walk through the house?
Yes. The walk-through mode lets you move through the house at eye level, on a phone or computer, with nothing to install.
Can the quote include delivery to northern Chile?
Delivery can be calculated by distance or zone, using your company's rules. It's defined during the project.
Does it work for SIP or timber panel homes?
Yes. What matters is that the system has rules: panel sizes, heights, spans. Those rules go into the configurator and the house gets built following them.
