Precast Concrete Home 3D Configurator for Panel-Built Houses
By Facundo Campo, 3D quoting tool developer
In short: A precast concrete home 3D configurator is a web tool where the buyer lays out their house within the manufacturer's panel grid, picks the roof, finishes and outdoor features, sees the finished house on a lot, and the manufacturer quotes it with their own rules.
A precast concrete home 3D configurator is a web tool where the buyer lays out their house within the panel grid the manufacturer works with, picks the roof, finishes and outdoor features, and sees the finished house on a neighborhood lot before asking for a quote. For a precast or panel manufacturer it solves two things at once: buyers see that the house looks like a real house, and whatever they design can actually be built.
The objection that matters most: "Will it look like a real house?"
If you sell precast concrete homes, you know the doubt. Many buyers picture bare, unfinished panels, and they find it hard to believe the same system can end up as a plastered, painted house with a porch, porcelain tile floors and a stone front. Photos of finished projects help, but those are other people's houses, with other floor plans on other lots.
A 3D configurator changes that conversation: the buyer sees their house, with the plan they laid out, the color they chose and the cladding they want, standing on a lot with a sidewalk and a street. They're no longer imagining the system; they're looking at the result.
The panel grid: the rule that runs a panel-built house
In a precast or panel-built house, not every dimension is possible. Panels come in set widths, columns go in certain positions and windows and doors have to line up with the grid. A window that sits "just a bit to the right" on a hand-drawn plan can land right on a joint between panels.
In traditional selling, that causes back-and-forth with your technical office. It's exactly what a configurator handles well. Your rules go in once:
- Which panel widths exist and how they combine.
- Which room lengths that grid allows.
- Where doors and windows can go.
- Which roof each system takes: concrete slab, single-slope or gable metal roof.
- Which additions can be built later.
The buyer makes a bedroom bigger and the system snaps it to the next possible module; they move a window and it lands where it can be built. I wrote about this in turning building rules into software.
What the buyer puts together
The prefab home configurator on this site is a strong reference for this industry, because it already has almost everything a concrete home needs:
- Floor plan. An editor where you drag rooms, resize them, add rooms, edit doors, windows and the entrance, and move furniture, with dimensions, undo and redo.
- Second floor. With stairs, and the sales rep chooses which way they go up.
- Roof. Flat concrete slab, single-slope or gable metal roof.
- Finishes. Plaster, accent color, ceramic, porcelain or wood floors, brick, stone or wood cladding inside and out.
- Outdoors. Porch, pool, and a perimeter fence as a masonry wall, wire fence or iron railings.
- Interior. Real bathroom, kitchen, laundry and closet furniture, plus lighting.
The house sits on a neighborhood lot with a sidewalk and street, and you can walk through it at eye level, see it at night and share it with a link. There's a full walkthrough in the prefab home 3D configurator guide, and the editor is covered in the floor plan editor for prefab homes.
What it doesn't have today is the panel grid of any particular system: that's built custom for each manufacturer, on the same engine, with their panel widths and rules. The public configurator doesn't show prices either.
What a precast home manufacturer gets out of it
- Fewer doubts about the system. Buyers see the finished house, not the panels. The objection gets answered by looking.
- Floor plans that can be built. What the customer designs already fits the grid, so your technical office doesn't redraw everything.
- The family decides together. The link opens exactly the house that was designed, and a partner, parents or whoever's helping with the financing can look at it on their phone. More in sharing a configuration by link.
- Finishes chosen by seeing them. Plaster, color, stone on the front, porcelain tile: picked in 3D, not from a catalog. I wrote about that in choosing colors and materials in 3D.
- Prices you control. The price comes from panels, finishes and outdoor features, with a price table you keep up to date.
If you sell concrete homes in other countries, there's a piece on Spain, where the prefab concrete house is a well-known product: prefab homes in Spain. For prefab homes in general, see the prefab home 3D quoting tool.
How we'd work together
I'm Facundo Campo, a software developer in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I build 3D quoting tools for manufacturers end to end. I work remotely, in English and Spanish, over video calls, WhatsApp and email, and I deliver links you test in the browser. For a concrete home I need the models you sell, the panel grid rules of your system, the finishes you offer and two or three real quotes, so the math matches what you do today.
If you build precast or panel concrete homes and want to see your models in 3D, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com. You can also read about custom 3D quoting software.
Frequently asked questions
Does the configurator respect panel sizes?
In a custom build, yes: room sizes and window and door positions snap to your grid. The public prefab home configurator doesn't have any particular system's grid.
Can the house be shown with a flat concrete roof?
Yes. The prefab home on this site already has a concrete slab roof, as well as single-slope and gable metal roofs.
Can buyers see the house on their own lot?
Today the house sits on a generic neighborhood lot with a sidewalk and street. Matching the lot to the buyer's actual land can be built custom. There's no augmented reality.
Does it show prices?
That's up to you: a reference price for the public, or prices for sales reps only, as with EQUIBOX. The demo configurators on this site don't show prices.
